   Join us for some fun, low stakes,  community driven Open Studio time with the ACP. Open to the public and studio members alike, all are welcome to attend! 

  Bring any fibre crafts or projects you're working on, hang out and visit with other crafters, or get advice and questions answered by one of our resident experts in knitting , crochet, weaving, spinning, sewing, felting...and more!

  This Fibre Craft Open Studio will take place on the 3rd Friday of every month, September to December, from 6 pm to 8 pm. There is no fee but donations are always greatly appreciated.

  You're new to sewing...you just got a new machine…you want to start sewing some easy projects… or you need to do some mending… Well this is the course for you!

  In this introductory course we will walk through all the basics of using a sewing machine; threading the machine, winding a bobbin, thread tensioning, sewing a straight stitch, and general sewing practices!  

  Sewing machines are available to use however, if you own a machine (and it is currently in good working condition) you are more than welcome to bring it for the class. Becoming familiar with your own machine is always advantageous!

  Bringing a spool of good quality, all-purpose sewing thread and pair of embroidery scissors is recommended. All other materials will be provided in the class. 

  Class maximum is 5 students.

  Play with a drop spindle, set up a spinning wheel,  wash some wool (if desired) and have some fun colour blending to make your own personal fun art yarn!

  In this class you'll learn to creatively mend jeans with a machine and by hand sewing with a few different types of stitches.

  You must bring your own jeans, all other materials and equipment will be provided for the class. If there is a specific colour of thread or fabric material you'd like to use, bring that with you as well.

  Do you have a favourite old t-shirt with sentimental value OR that you've outgrown?  Why not make it into a bag!

  All that's needed are two t-shirts (your favourite for the outside and another for the lining) or one sweatshirt to make this fun and thrifty bag.

  Bring your own t-shirts (2) or sweatshirt (1) with you to the class. All other materials, including sewing machines, will be provided. If there is a specific colour of thread you'd like to use, bring that with you as well.

  Come and learn an easy weaving technique and make a small wall hanging on a tapestry loom! A wall hanging tapestry is great for decorating a room or makes for a lovely gift. If you have any bits of funky or special yarns, bring those along to add embellishments to your piece. 

  All other materials, including frame looms, will be provided for the class. Frame loom kits will be available for $10 if you wish to take one home.

  Monk’s Belt is a weaving pattern composed of block shapes, threaded on opposite pairs of shafts.

  In this class, we will explore some of the variations of Monk's Belt in the form of a sampler which will be valuable for future reference when designing a project.

  Come on out for a fun evening and learn how to take crocheting traditional Granny Squares to the next level! Participants will learn about joining using crochet to make a either fun market bag or small baby blanket.

  Please bring about 5 or 6 already completed Granny Squares to class (the more prepared squares, the larger your project can be), as well as a 5 mm crochet hook. All other materials will be provided.
