Teacher will supply: size 11 beads, and Tacky Wax.
Students should bring an awl if you have one. I will bring some 2" - 4" gourd shards, though if you have a shallow gourd top to use please bring it. Let me know in advance if you will need me to bring you a shard.
Wax Resist Technique
Date to be confirmed TBA
Instructor : Anne Carling
Cost: $30 for members (includes daily centre fee)
All Covid precautions in effect.
Learn to use a kiska or pysanki pen to make wax resist designs on a gourd. Wax resist is best for line patterns or silhouettes. Your choice of dyes or stains will be applied for colour. The wax will provide the final outside sealant.
Bring a gourd clean on the outside ready for a design. Seal the inside if it is open. You may want to use several small shards for practice. Pens and wax will be provided. You will also have the opportunity to try using a stylus to apply wax.
MONDAY April 12, 2021
All students must have experience with pyrography - drawing lines and shading in layers.
Teacher will supply: Tutorial
Students should bring: a prepared gourd cleaned inside and out, wood burner and burning pens - shader, small ball (can borrow from teacher if you do not have one), and skew or what you prefer for burning lines
