Ocean Drum

This drum is perfect for putting you in a relaxed mood!  When your ocean drum is completed, you will learn to slowly move the drum to make the sound of soft waves tapping on a shore.  Come with an idea of how you would like to decorate your ocean drum.

Students will need to bring or purchase a suitable gourd to cut and prepare for making the ocean drum.  Two weeks before the class I will gather suitable gourds for you to pick from and purchase if you do not already have a gourd.  You can prepare the gourd by cutting the gourd to give you a good gourd drum, and cleaning the inside and outside of the gourd.  The cleaned inside of the gourd should be sanded smooth, and also painted or varnished to seal it.

The drum skin will be provided as well as the BB’s.  You will finish putting the ocean drum together at the class, but you may have to finish your design later.
